Senna skirt KIDS & LADIES pattern

Daar is ie! De Senna skirt voor dames! En nog beter… De KIDS en DAMES versie zitten gewoon samen in één patroon. Het twinning seizoen is bij deze officieel geopend! Senna zit zo snel in elkaar dat het ‘ééntje is geentje’ principe helemaal opgaat.

It’s here! The Senna skirt pattern for ladies! And even better… The kIDS and LADIES version are combined into one pattern. Twinning season has been officially opened! Senna is a very quick sewing project, so you’ll make many of these in no time!

Senna kan uit allerlei soorten stoffen genaaid worden. Het hangt er een beetje vanaf welke stijl je wil. Wanneer je een dikkere, stijve stof gebruikt, zoals de corduroy op deze foto’s, valt de rok iets boller rond het lichaam en is het een rechte, stijvere rok. Wanneer je een dun flodderstofje gebruikt, valt de stof heel mooi rond het lichaam en heb je een luchtig rokje dat fladdert in de wind. Voor de gestreepte rok gebruikte ik tencel (iets tussenin qua dikte).

Senna is suitable for all kinds of fabrics. It depends a bit on the style you want to create. When using a thicker, firm fabric, like the corduroy, the skirt is slightly more rounded and stiff. When using a thin flowy fabric, the fabric drapes beautifully around the body and you have a skirt that waves in the wind. For the striped skirt, I used tencel (of medium thickness).

Wat opties betreft, heb ik het simpel gehouden. Je kan kiezen voor zakken vooraan, een koord in de tailleband met knoopsgaten of zeilringen. Ook kan je kiezen om het achterpand te rimpelen of niet. In de gerimpelde versie is het achterpand iets breder. Dit is ideaal voor ravottende kinderen. De niet-gerimpelde versie doet de rok wat minder bol staan, wat mooi is voor de damesversie in iets stijvere stoffen. Uit de corduroy maakte ik dus een niet-gerimpelde versie en uit de tencel (streepjes) maakte ik een gerimpelde versie.

I kept the options pretty simple. You can choose for pockets on the front, a cord in the waistband with button holes or eyelets. There’s a gathered back option which makes the back piece somewhat wider. This is perfect for playing kids who need more wiggle room. The non-gathered version makes it a little less wide which is great for more stiff fabrics. From the corduroy, I made the non-gathered version and from the tencel (stripes) I made the gathered version.

Jente haar pop kreeg uit een restjesreepje ook een rokje. Ik nam een elastiekje van 1cm breed en 25cm lang en een rechthoek stof van 50cm bij 16cm die ik aan de korte kanten dicht naaide. De onderkant zoomde ik door twee keer 1cm om te vouwen. De naad van de boverkant overlockte ik, vouwde deze 1,5cm om en stikte een tunnel voor de elastiek. Elastiek erdoor, tunnel dicht et voila, poppenrokje klaar!

Jente’s doll had to have a skirt too of course. I took an elastic of 1cm wide and 25cm long and a rectangular piece of fabric of 50cm by 16cm that I sewed close on the short sides. I folded the bottom hem twice (1cm each time). I finished the waist seam with my serger, folded it 1,5cm down and stitched a tunnel for the elastic. Lacing the elastic through, closing the tunnel et voila, doll skirt is done!

Clara patroon – Clara pattern

Met trots stel ik jullie voor: Het Clara culotte & short patroon. De nieuwste telg in de WISJ familie is een naaipatroon voor een wijde broek met plooitjes voor meisjes van 2 tot 14 jaar en voor oudere meisjes met maten XS tot L.

Proud to present: The Clara culotte & shorts pattern. The newest member of the WISJ family is a sewing pattern for wide pants with pleats for girls from 2 to 14 years old and for older girls with sizes XS to L.

Geloof me, het is een eenvoudig project en met de fototutorial doe ik mijn best om je stap voor stap te begeleiden.
Maak Clara met of zonder linten, met of zonder zakken in de zijnaad en kies voor de ‘snellere afwerking’ of voor de ‘nettere afwerking’ aan taille en zoom. Zo maak je dit naaiwerk zo simpel en snel als je zelf wil.

Sew your Clara with or without ribbons, with our without pockets in the side seam or choose for the ‘faster finishing’ or ‘neat and perfect finishing’ at the waistband and hem. By choosing your options and finishing, you can make this project as fast and easy as you wish.

Bij het KIDS patroon zit ook een shortjes versie. Helemaal zomerproof. Het doet mij denken aan die broekrokjes die ik vroeger altijd droeg.

The KIDS pattern also has a shorts option. Completely summerproof. It reminds me of the wide shorts I used to wear as a kid.

Omdat sommige pubermeiden al wat vrouwelijkere vormen hebben, voegde ik ook enkele damesmaten toe. Zo valt de culotte mooi rond de iets bredere ‘grote meisjesheupen’. Als je geluk hebt met een heupomtrek van 104cm of minder, pas je er als mama ook nog in. 😉 Ik maakte voor mezelf maat S en heb heupomtrek 96cm. In de winkel koop ik meestal maat 38.

Because some teenage ladies already have a more female form, I added a few LADIES sizes. The ladies culotte drapes beautifully around the more lady like hips. If you’re lucky to have a hip circumference of 104cm (41 inches) or less, you will still fit in these yourself. 😉 I made size S for myself and I have a hip circumfernece of 96cm (37,7 inch). In stores I usually buy size 38 (US 7,5; UK 5,5).

Het joggingbroek gevoel in deze culotte is enorm hoog! Heerlijk gewoon! En als het nodig is, ziet ie er toch deftig uit.

There’s a high sweatpants feeling when wearing these! So wonderfully comfy. At the same time, they can qualify as ‘chique’.

Voor dat culotte twinnen ben ik dus helemaal gewonnen! En Jente ook! Net als ik vindt zij de broekjes heerlijk om te dragen. Er komt dus nog wat Clara spam aan, denk ik. 🙂

I’m all into twinning now! I’m not done sewing these pants. And Jente liked being in the picture together. As do I, she also likes the fit of these pants a lot. There’s some more Clara spam to come, I think. 🙂

Mijn trui is trouwens een Emma sweater met brede boord onderaan en blinkende boordstof gezoomd aan de mouwen.

My sweater, by the way, is an Emma sweater with wide ribbing at the bottom hem and shiny ribbing at the sleeves.

Jente is helemaal weg van de zakken. Ik moet die altijd wel grondig binnenstebuiten keren voordat ik zulke broeken was. Ze is heel sterk in het verzamelen van stokjes, steentjes en allerlei andere schatten in haar jas- en broekzakken.

Jente is most fan of the pockets in these pants. And I need to keep in mind to check all pockets thoroughly before washing these kinds of pants. She’s the best at collecting branches, rocks and all kinds of other treasures in her coat- and pants pockets.

Nog enkele ‘culotte in beweging’ foto’s die ik MOEST in mijn bericht zetten van onze kleine bazin. Helemaal haar vader, sowieso. 🙂
